20th World Petroleum Congress

Since its establishment in 1933, this is the first time that the World Petroleum Congress will be hosted in the Middle East. Qatar Petroleum is the host sponsor of the Congress.

The Exhibition features two sections:

The Global Business Opportunities Centre:
Features exhibits from the national committees of the World Petroleum Council, where the most prestigious oil and gas companies and agencies of the world are present. This area is located at the heart of the exhibition centre.

The World Petroleum Exhibition:
Features exhibits from the largest independent and oil and gas companies, as well as international and regional service companies. Includes international and regional service companies actively involved within the petroleum sector.

These two exhibitions, which expect more than 500 exhibitors and over 12,000 visitors, will be spread over an area of 35,000 sq. m. They will also feature key attractions such as the Social Responsibility Global Village, the Youth Lounge, the Poster Plaza and the Media Village. In fact, this is the only global exhibition dedicated to the oil, gas and energy industry.

Companies that have already confirmed their participation at the exhibition include Shell, ExxonMobil, BP, TOTAL, Chevron, ConocoPhillips, Dolphin Energy, Oxy, Oryx, Petrobras, Statoil, Polish Oil & Gas Co., Schlumberger, Weatherford, Chiyoda and many others. National Oil Companies from Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Oman, Algeria, Iran, Russia, Angola, Egypt, China, Japan, Canada and Colombia have also expressed interest and are finalizing their participation.

The 20th World Petroleum Congress will be held at the Qatar National Convention Centre (QNCC). Opening in 2011, QNCC will boast an iconic design and cutting edge facilities in a green technology venue. It is the first facility of its kind being built to the gold certification of the U.S. Green Building Council’s Leadership in Energy and Environment Design (LEED).
