OMV

OMV – The strongest energy group in the European Growth belt

OMV is entering a challenging business environment characterized by high oil price volatility, high investment needs to contribute to a low carbon economy, as well as the need to diversify and secure energy supply. Against this background, OMV has positioned itself as an integrated market leader in the European Growth Belt. Going forward OMV has the vision to shape the energy industry in the European Growth Belt by

  • expanding downstream within its growth markets and connecting to supply regions,
  • adapting the corporate portfolio by strengthening Exploration & Power and Gas & Power businesses and through selective investments in electrical power and renewable energy, and
  • realizing cost and revenue synergies through an integrated position and rigorous cost and capital discipline.

As a pioneering professional partner OMV creates sustainable value growth and acts responsibly.

Expanding downstream within its growth markets and connect to supply regions

OMV ’s market is the European Growth Belt and it aims to strengthen its oil and gas market position in this region. Petrom has developed into a regional hub for OMV in South Eastern Europe and OMV wants to integrate Turkey into its core markets and evaluate it as potential hub. At the same time, OMV targets establishing a link to Middle East / Caspian supply regions where OMV plans to grow upstream to secure oil & gas supply for its markets in CEE.

Top service from the Black Forest to the Black Sea

OMV’s Refining & Marketing business is number one in the Danube Basin, a growth market of 13 counties with a total population of over 100 million. Thanks to the Petrom acquisition it can already be certain of hitting its target of a 20 % market share in the region in 2008. Already 800,000 people are using our filling stations every day.

Our filling stations have long since ceased selling only fuel, and have now become innovative multifunctional service centers for consumers on the move. They offer convenient, customers friendly VIVA forecourt stores and quality catering.

A close-knit network of filling stations and dealers is the guarantee of top quality service across the region: the Danube provides the perfect logistics backbone. OMV’s refineries in Austria, Germany and Romania, together with its stake in Germany’s. Bayernoil refineries, add up to most of the capacity required for the entire Danube region. And, Schwechat and Burghausen are the main aviation fuel suppliers of Vienna International Airport and Munich Airport, respectively. Schwechat – one of the largest inland refineries in Europe – and Burghausen produce basic petrochemicals for the Borealis plastics group, in which OMV owns an interest, as well as quality petroleum products.
