Slovnaft a.s.
Slovnaft was transformed from a state-owned company into a joint-stock company in the course of 1st stage of privatisation. Transfer of all the assets and liabilities from a state-owned company to the joint-stock company was made to 1st May 1992. At the same time it acquired app. one third of the motor fuel distribution network of the former state-owned company Benzinol. In the course of 1993-1997 the subsidiaries were established step by step. They took over activities from the fields of research and development, maintenance, machinery production, haulage, accommodation, relax, etc. from the parent company Slovnaft.
The privatisation process was finished at the beginning of 1998. On March 31, 2000, the joint-stock company Slovnaft signed the Agreement on Strategic Partnership with a company MOL, one of the biggest Hungarian corporations which participates with 70% of the stock.
Slovnaft, a.s. operates its service stations already in four countries of the Central European region in the present time. It operates the largest network of more than 300 SLOVNAFT and BENZINOL branded service stations in Slovak Republic. There are 40 service stations in Czech Republic, 3 in Poland and 2 in Ukraine.
