ERG

The ERG Group sells gasoline, diesel, LPG for transportation and lubricants through its retail network, as well as non-oil products and automobile accessories. In line with the strategy to expand its own network and as part of the “Programme Agreement” signed by the Environment Ministry, FIAT and the Oil Industry Union, ERG has also taken part in the plans to develop the domestic network of transport methane, with the aim of duly endorsing this new market segment.

On 2 June 1938, by royal decree, the Podestà (Governor) granted Edoardo Garrone, grandfather and namesake of the current Chairman, a license to trade in products deriving from the processing of petroleum and tar: this led to the creation of ERG (Edoardo Raffinerie Garrone) in the district of San Quirico, Genoa.

More than 70 years of activity are summarised through the most significant moments and historical pictures: from establishment in 1938 to the refinery created straight after the war, from entry into the distribution market right up to the group’s current positioning as a “multy–energy” group.

ERG today is one of the most prominent Groups in Italy and it is the first amongst those operating in the petroleum and energy sector.
