Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd.

Idemitsu Kosan Co., Ltd. was founded in Moji, Kita-Kyushu, in 1911 under the name of Idemitsu Shokai to engage in oil distribution.

During its 97-year history, the Company has deployed its expertise globally in a wide range of strategic businesses, such as Core Businesses, including fuel products and basic chemicals; High Value- Added Businesses, including lubricants, performance chemicals, engineering plastics and such electronic materials as organic light emitting diode (OLED) materials, developed based on its own technologies cultivated in the Core Businesses; and Resource Businesses, including coal, uranium and geothermal energy in addition to oil exploration and production.

Petroleum Products Businesses involve oil refining, the sale of fuel products, and the development and sale of lubricants. Idemitsu´s refineries are optimally balanced across the nation, spread over four areas (Hokkaido, Chiba Prefecture, Aichi Prefecture and Yamaguchi Prefecture). With a total refining capacity of 640,000 barrels per day, the efficiently operating refineries have environmental preservation measures in place.

Additionally, approximately 4,500 service stations (SS) under the Idemitsu brand name are located throughout Japan, selling gasoline, diesel and other fuel products. The company also sells oil and jet fuel to the industrial sector, as well as kerosene and LPG for household use.
