Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company

Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company was established by virtue of a Royal Decree issued by His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said in June 1993. Before it came into existence, Al Maha Marketing Division was a part of the Oman Refinery Company as a marketing division. It handled the distribution of petroleum products.

In September 1999, the Al Maha Marketing Division was formally separated from Oman Refinery Company and established as an independent entity Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company SAOG to exclusively distribute Petroleum Products to meet the increasing domestic demand for fuel throughout the Sultanate.

In December 1999, Al Maha officially signed on a partnership with Abu Dhabi based ABS Lubricants to manage the newly instituted company with a 65 percent stake by the Government of the Sultanate of Oman and 35 percent by the Abu Dhabi based company ABS Lubricants. In March 2004, Al Maha was converted from a limited liability company to joint stock company following the decision of the Ministry of Oil and Gas and Central Bank of Oman to divest their 65 percent stake in the company by offering 60 percent to the public and 5 percent to ABS Lubricants.

In a short space of time span, Al Maha Petroleum Products Marketing Company S.A.O.G had an impressive success. Tremendous growth followed the opening of the first fuel station at Al Khuwair on 24th September 1994. In 1995 two more stations were added. One located in the Capital area and the other in Sohar. By the end of 1999, 52 filling stations had been established all over the country.  Today the company proudly boasts of having over 163 filling stations with c-stores and souks throughout the country that have been catering to the fuel needs of even the remotest area in Oman. The right combination of experts, professionals, systems, technologies and affiliates together with an innovative head office has made this possible in such a short span of time.
