No date yet for fuel deregulation in Nigeria

Posted / Last update: 12-01-2010

The Federal Government informed it has not decided on a date to begin fuel deregulation

Minister of State for Petroleum Odein Ajumogobia said in Lagos that people wanted government to give a date, but it would not. "Once everything is in place, deregulation will begin", he said.

He said the ministry was visiting several oil facilities in Lagos to know those to partner with to ensure that fuel scarcity becomes a thing of the past. "The fuel queues are no longer as they used to be. I think it is getting better. We also learnt that some filling stations are selling at N100 per litre, but we have not seen any yet. I assure you that if we see anyone selling above N65, we will shutdown the filling station", Ajumogobia added.
