Source: Planet Retail | Posted / Last update: 27-07-2010

The Netherland’s busiest forecourt store, the Shell Shop outlet near Amsterdam’s Schiphol Airport, has installed electronic shelf labels (ESL) from e-paper specialist ZBD. The technology will allow the Shell Shop to change prices in its POS system and on the shelf labels at the same time

Future advantages include the possibility of dynamic pricing, helping the store owner to reduce operational costs. With the labels able to display graphic elements, the technology also lends itself to potential promotions with manufacturers that would like their logos to be displayed on-shelf.

In March 2009, Shell de Lucht in the Netherlands together with Toshiba Tec and filling station technology specialist Extendas, started to equip its forecourt store with Electronic Shelf Labels from Pricer, changing the prices for groceries several times a day.
