English Español Mexican authorities publish new regulations affecting fuel stations software, electronic equipment

The Mexican Economy ministry published projects of new versions of regulations which are used in inspections that are made periodically by officials seeking to make sure fuel stations deliver the right volume of fuels, according to a report published May 8 by Mexican-based newspaper Expreso and republished by fuel station association Onexpo.

The regulation said that government agency Profeco will continue in charge of inspections. It also includes specific software instructions and requirements that the agency is now demanding to make sure that the “software for dispensers” is not altered.

Another part of the regulation changes makes the handling of electronic equipment much stricter than the previous regulations in place, the report said.
