English Español Argentina prices climb five times in 2015 for a cumulative 5.5%

Fuel prices in Argentina have climbed five times during 2015 reaching a total increase of 5.5%, according to information published June 12 by the country’s fuel retail organization Cecha which in turn republished information it said it obtained in the website of online media La Capital.

Last update:

The increase is the result of an agreement between the government and oil companies so that  domestic prices can adjust to local currency depreciation, Cecha said. This is because the oil companies must import crude oil with US dollars, which have increased in value against the domestic peso currency.

Stations operating under the flags of YPF, Shell, Axion, Petrobras and Oil applied the last increase together by June 11.

The Argentine oil company YPF had said earlier this year that its earnings had decreased as a result of rising crude oil prices, according to the La Capital report.
