American motorists talk about their favoured gas stations

If you are American, odds have it your preferred gas station is Wawa, while the retailer you are most likely to avoid is 7-Eleven. That is according to a recent study by Market Force Information which polled 7,000 consumers..

Last update:

The study carried out by the customer intelligence agency tries to find the preferences of motorists for where and why they fuel up their vehicles. Although sales at traditional filling stations and convenience stores still have a 69% lead, the study confirms customers’ preferences for refuelling is moving towards grocery stores and wholesale clubs (31%), as the study already pointed out last year.

Market Force Information asked drivers about their most recent visit to a gas station and how satisfied were they, as well as the likelihood of them recommending the station to a friend, reported CSP Daily News,

Wawa ranked number one this year with a customer satisfaction of 68%, followed by QuikTrip (62%) and Sheetz with 59%. Oklahoma-based retailer QuikTrip is not a new customer favourite, as last year´s study, published in June 2014, saw them take second place along with Costco.

As for the gas stations drivers are least likely to go back to, 7-Eleven is again the lowest scoring with 38% customer satisfaction. The convenience store giant is followed by Mobil (40%) and international retailer BP (41%). This general data is subject to regional variation.
