European agency to give nearly 50 million euro funding for ‘green’ transportation projects

The Innovation and Networks Executive Agency of the European Union announced on June 24 that it is offering nearly 50 million euro for transportation research projects, according to a press release issued on June 24.

“Two calls for proposals in the areas of Green Vehicles and Mobility for Growth opened,” the agency said.

There will be 30 million euro offered to projects either to reduce emissions and consumptions of trucks by using new generation navigation systems or through sensors.

The agency added that another 18.5 million euro would be won by projects to improve transportation and mobility such as those to overcome modal transport integration challenges, which means the connection between trains, ships and trucks.
