Indonesia's Pertamina successfully launches new gasoline type

Indonesia's state-owned oil company Pertamina has successfully launched their new Pertalite fuel type, a Reseach Octane Number 90 fuel, at 101 gas stations in island of Java.

Last update:

Volume sales for Pertalite at 30 gas stations on Saturday reached 82,860 liters, an increase of 69.2 in relation to Friday - the opening day for the new fuel, reports Antara News.

Pertamina initiated the trial sales test for the Pertalite 90 at 101 service stations across three cities in Java: Jakarta, Bandung and Surabaya.

The Indonesian fuel retailer hopes to provide motorist with an effective alternative to the more expensive Pertamax 92, and the lower quality gasoline premium. Pertalite 90 is suitable for the latest cars and provides a higher engine performance for a reasonable price, experts say.

"In technical terms, Pertalite would make car machines better to cover six percent longer distance coverage besides being environmentally friendly. Thus, Pertalite could be a better choice for consumers instead of buying Pertamax whose price is higher," said energy observer of IRESS Marwan Batubara to Antara News.

PT Pertamina currently operates 4784 filling stations across Indonesia. If the sales trial for the Pertalite 90 succeeds, Pertamina plan to roll it out at a greater number of gas stations.
