Winnipeg stations follow Edmonton as Shell fuel shortage continues

After a month of fuel shortages around Edmonton's Shell Canada gas stations, drivers from Winnipeg faced dry Shell pumps during Wednesday.

Last update:

Due to unplanned maintenance at the Scotford refinery in Alberta over the past a month, fuel shortages are spreading around Shell stations in Canada.

Fuel pumps in Shell stations around Winnipeg had bags and signs over them telling drivers, “Sold out of all gas. Sorry for the inconvenience,” reported CBC News.

Speaking to the news source, Dan McTeague, from GasBuddy.com, said: "I would have thought that this situation would have resolved itself by now. The fact there are now one, then three, and now five or even seven Shell stations uniquely that are going dry suggests that there are more problems upstream then at this [refinery] in Edmonton.”

Several gas stations in Edmonton are still suffering from a lack of fuel supply, with Shell representatives still unable to set a deadline for the Scotford refinery maintenance work.
