The 700 bar station is an important part of NREL's new Hydrogen Infrastructure Testing and Research Facility (HITRF).

NREL has collaborated with car companies and their fuel providers to assess the on-road performance of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles and the necessary fuelling facilities.

The Golden station is also the first hydrogen fuel pump away from the United States coasts. The rest are found in California, South Carolina, and Connecticut, reported autoblog.com.

The station dedication event will be held on October 08, 4 p.m., at NREL, 15013 Denver West Parkway, Golden, Colorado, where guests will have the chance to view the station facilities and hydrogen-powered vehicles, participate in ride-and-drive opportunities, and talk to NREL's scientists.

NREL has also organized the event to raise awareness of fuel cell and hydrogen technologies and promote clean and alternative energy.

The October 08 inauguration coincides with the first celebration of National Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Day, the date chosen in honour of the of the atomic weight of hydrogen, which is approximately 1.008 u.
