Army man who unveiled the $43m gas station in Afghanistan “punished”

The whistleblower who exposed the overspending of the U.S. defence department in the construction of a CNG fuelling station in Afghanistan claims to have been punished for unveiling the matter, reported Russia Today.

Last update:

Army Colonel John Hope first spoke about this issue in a report, where he detailed how the defence department had spent $43 million in a gas station which was supposed to cost around $306,000 – the price of a similar fuelling station constructed in Pakistan.

His officer evaluation is months overdue, which has left him in a limbo after 28 years of military service.

Republican Senator Chuck Grassley has written a letter to the Secretary of Defence demanding to know if Hope has been “singled out for retaliation and retribution for speaking truth about a lack of accountability.”

The infamous gas station in Afghanistan is now known as the “most expensive service station in the world.”
