Unipetrol to acquire 68 OMV gas stations in Czech Republic

Unipetrol RPA, which operates 339 gas stations in the Czech Republic under the brand Benzina, further strengthens its market share by taking over 68 stations from Austrian oil company OMV, stated a company release.

Benzina’s expansion will improve distribution of Verva premium fuels and promote on the go food and beverage outlets Stop Cafe.

“The successful completion of acquisition process will confirm Benzina brand unquestionable leadership on the fuel retail market in the Czech Republic,” said Marek Świtajewski, Unipetrol CEO and chairman of the board.

The acquisition will also allow more efficient use of larger refinery capacities Unipetrol had bought from Shell and Eni.

The transaction is expected to be completed within the next two years and subject to certain requirements, including the approval of competition bodies.
