Australia: Woolworths undergoes management changes

Convenience giant Woolworths has appointed Angus Armstrong, current GM of operations for its branch Dan Murphy, as acting director for fuel and convenience.

As reported by Convenience and Impulse Retailing, Woolworths has carried out a number of management changes that will see Armstrong land the new director position. He will also be taking charge of the Woolworths Metro network.

Armstrong takes over from Woolworths’ former head of petrol and convenience Michael James who has been appointed director of stores.

Other management changes in the supermarket giant include Woolworths supermarket director Dave Chambers returning to his previous role of head of supermarkets in New Zealand, while Pat McEntee returns to Australia to pick up a senior management role.

Woolworths is Australia´s largest supermarket chain operating 961 stores across the country. It is also a major fuel retailer with about 600 forecourts cobranded Caltex Woolworths and Caltex Safeway.
