UK: Phillip 66 renews 70% of its road tanker fleet

Phillips 66 has replaced 70% of its total road tanker fleet for the United Kingdom with 32 new MAN, Scania and Merc vehicles.

The vehicles conform to Euro 6 emissions standards thus delivering lower emissions and improved fuel efficiency. The 32 tankers, operated by Phillips 66 hauliers, are already on the road throughout the UK.

“Our new upgraded tanker fleet reflects our continued commitment to driver safety and operational efficiency. These state-of-the-art vehicles offer the very latest in vehicle technology and driver comfort helping to minimise the risk of vehicle incidents as well as minimise environmental impact,” said Mary Wolf, Managing Director of Phillips 66 UK & Ireland Marketing.

The new tankers offer the latest in fleet vehicle technology: Euro 6 emission compliant engines; lane assistance technology with alert function; braking assistance technology with alert function; LED lighting systems to increase vehicle visibility and reduce downtime for vehicle maintenance; multi-function steering wheels for driver convenience; and driving characteristics monitoring with alert function.

 “We believe that we are the first operator using this new hardware,” he added Dan Bauckham, Director of Engineering at Suckling Transport, another major Phillips 66 haulier.

Phillip 66, headquartered in Houston, Texas, has 14,000 employees and had $49 billion in assets as of March 31, 2015.
