Supermarket Schnucks exits retail fuel business
Supermarket chain Schnucks has sold its four remaining convenience store fuel centers Schnucks Express to petroleum marketer Wallis Oil Co., according to CSPnet.com.
The retailer decided to focus on the supermarket business, said spokesperson Paul Simon.
Employees of sold Schnucks Express in Champaign, Urbana and Savoy, Illinois, and Festus, Missouri will be offered jobs in nearby Schnucks supermarkets.
Wallis Oil will begin running the stores on May 2 and customer fuel rewards programs will be continued despite management changes.
In 2011, Schnuck Markets Inc. sold seven Schnucks Express in the Memphis, Tenn., area to The Kroger Co.
