Ferenc Horváth, who oversees MOLʼs downstream business, disclosed the company’s plans to purchase a chain of high-quality gas stations in Austria.

“If a network of gas stations of the appropriate scale and quality comes up for sale, we are ready to buy and to run them,” said Horváth in an interview with Austrian business paper WirtschaftsBlatt.

MOL retail business was withdrawn from Austria due to market saturation, and the gas station chain it operated was small and didn’t function well, said Horváth.

MOL still has significant investments in Austria’s refinery products market.

The Hungarian company also claims to be the fuel retailing leader in Hungary, Croatia, and Slovakia, and one of the top three in Czech Republic, Romania, Serbia and Slovenia.
