Malaysia: Petronas gas stations become safe places for emergencies

Malaysian fuel operator Petronas is extending to 1,067 the number of gas stations participating in the Go-To-Safety-Points programme, which seeks to aid people during emergencies.

The programme was formed in collaboration between Petronas and the police. Currently it includes 512 Petronas fuel stations across the Asian country, reported The Star.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar informed that other gas station operators will also enter the Go-To-Safety-Points programme.

“The programme, which is under the National Blue Ocean Strategy, will also be extended to BHPetrol and Caltex stations soon,” said Khalid.

Gas station operators will receive training by the police including self-defence, citizen´s arrest, handling victims in trauma and administering first aid.
