S. Korea: eBay, GS25 c-stores team up for delivery convenience

eBay Korea and convenience store chain GS25 have partnered to offer a “combined online-offline service” called the ‘Smile Box’.

The ‘Smile Box’ is an unmanned box where single-person households and female customers can receive packages ordered online from Gmarket, Auction, and G9, said the company release.

Smile Boxes will be installed starting August in 50 GS25 stores in Seoul, with plans to expand it nationwide especially in the areas known for high number of deliveries that have a large concentration of single-person households.

This “customer-centric endeavour is the future for online and mobile shopping,” said an eBay Korea representative. “We hope to build an enhanced, more convenient shopping environment for our customers.”
