UAE: Famous leisure park goes ‘green’ with charging stations

Al Qasba, the famous tourist and family destination in the emirate city of Sharjah, has recently installed two electric vehicle (EV) charging stations at its car park.

The initiative, reports Khaleej Times, is in line with the Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq)’s objective of promoting a sustainable ecosystem in the city and raising awareness on the importance of EVs in preserving the environment.

As part of the inauguration ceremony held on Tuesday, August 16, two BMW electric cars were charged using the new EV stations. An expert was also present to explain the technology behind it.

EV owners can avail of the service free of charge while enjoying Al Qasba’s state-of-the-art facilities and tourist attractions, including restaurants, cafes, the Kids Fun Zone, the Al Qasba Musical Fountain, the Eye of the Emirates Ferris wheel and the Maraya Art Centre, among others.
