Tesla presents new Model S with 315-mile battery
Tesla has upped its game in the car manufacturing business by presenting a battery capable of running for up to 315 miles of charge – a first in the electric vehicle industry.
The announcement was made while presenting the new versions of its Model S sedan and Model X sport-utility vehicle with 100 kilowatt-hour batteries – 10 more KW than the previous largest battery, reported The Wall Street Journal.
A battery that can run for 315 miles sets a new benchmark for electric vehicle manufacturers and the industry as a whole. Distance has always been the biggest weakness of EVs since their introduction to the market.
Tesla executives also claimed that their new Model S P100D can get to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds, making it the quickest current regular-production car in the world.
