USA: Nissan to install EV chargers at BP stations

Nissan and fuelling company Mark Oil have partnered to install 10 fast-charging sites for EVS in BP stations in Charlotte, USA.

The partners in the pilot programme, which include Duke Energy, Stroupe Electric, the City of Charlotte, and the State of North Carolina, believe this is “the largest city-wide deployment of EV chargers at a chain of fuelling stations in the U.S.”.

Nissan Leaf drives will be able to charge up their cars within a 10 mile range in the metro Charlotte area. It takes around 30 minutes to charge 80% of a Nissan Leaf with a fast-charger, according to Green Car Reports.

Mark Oil operates more than 25 BP gas stations in the greater Charlotte area.

“Through our partnership with Nissan, we are thrilled to be able to provide electric charging stations at no cost," said Bill Tome, Mark Oil Company President.

As reported by PetrolPlaza last week, Shell is also considering installing EV charging points in its UK gas station network.
