Fullgas is currently conducting a market research and evaluating its gas stations to see which will be converted into Texaco stations and which will remain with their Mexican Petroleums (Pemex) franchise.

The company, which currently has 50 gas stations and 10 more under construction, is set to expand with plans to operate 200 stations in the country.

"We believe that Texaco can compete strongly and especially many (entrepreneurs) are heading the price, economies of scale, which will be important, but the technology will make a turning point in open markets," said FullGas director Sebastian Figueroa.

Texaco’s fuel technology and efficient supply chain will bring in more competitive fuel price.

Texaco’s parent company Chevron, Figueroa added, “is working very hard in the area of infrastructure, they have two refineries nearby, so I guess they are working to see what the best option for gasoline imported into Mexico is and will be settling in the short or medium term."
