Istobal reduces hydrocarbons in car wash wastewater by 94%

Istobal has managed to reduce hydrocarbons in car wash wastewater by 94% by using a separation and retention technology.

Last update:

With World Water Day set for tomorrow, March 22 Istobal is bringing a focus to its hydrocarbon separator, which manges to retain hydrocarbons in the vehicles’ fuel and engines, preventing them from contaminating the water used in the wash process.

Istobal highlights the importance of avoiding the use or discharge of untreated water in washing processes, as one litre of oil pollutes 1,000 m3 of water (the equivalent of an Olympic swimming pool) or m2 of land (a football pitch).

The Spanish carwash company believes an environmentally friendly car wash station must use biological or physical water recycling systems to be able to reuse the water used in the wash process.
