China: JD to open over 1 million c-stores
China's second largest e-commerce company, JD.com, plans to open more than 1 million brick-and-mortar stores across the country in the next five years, reports The Jakarta Post.
Half of the convenience stores will be set up in rural areas and small cities where penetration rate of online companies is not high.
C-store owners could order goods through JD's application software, and JD will be in charge of logistics and distribution.
Online retail giants Alibaba and Bailian Group have already formed a partnership and will come up with stores that merge online and offline shopping features.
