Argentinean oil company YPF is installing electric vehicle chargers across 220 gas stations in the South American country.

Last update:

YPF is betting on EV transport to surge over the coming years by installing hundreds of charging points across its fuel retailing network. The project will require an investment of around $13 million, according to El Cronista.

The first charging points will open during June or July along the highway that connects Buenos Aires with the coastal city of La Plata. In the first phase of the project, the company will install 110 of the 220 charging points it plans to roll out.

At the event where the project was unveiled, Enrique Levallois, executive at YPF, said that the company plans to lead the use of electricity to power vehicles in Argentina.

The country still doesn´t have any electric vehicles on the roads with the first ones expected to be introduced in the market later this year.
