The new features on the thermal printer include a faster printing speed, as well as a higher quality printing for easily read reports. The thermal printer eliminates the need to replace ink cartridges and utilizes a common paper type that can be found locally. In addition, new technology was built into the printer that will pause the printer and automatically resume where it left off, should the paper run out mid print. Should multiple reports be requested during a paper outage, the printer is able to queue up to five reports while waiting for a new paper roll to be loaded.  The thermal printer utilizes a process by which heat is used to create words, numbers and symbols on the paper. The surface head of the printer contains 394 tiny individual heating elements that heat up in a specific combination to correspond with each character to be printed. The paper is coated with a chemical that reacts with the heat as it passes through the printer head creating sharp, highly visible characters.  Franklin’s new thermal printer will ship on all T5 Series tank gauge ordered with the printer option immediately with planned field upgrade kits to be available shortly.
