Real estate site to include compressed natural gas dispensers in houses

Home natural gas dispensers to fuel CNG-powered vehicles are now available for people who buy a Fulton Home in Queen Creek, Arizona, reports AZ Central.

In an innovative campaign, homebuilder Fulton Homes has partnered with Southwest Gas Corp and AutoNation Honda to provide compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel pumps at newly built homes for an additional $6,000, officials have said.

"We are extremely excited to be involved in the gas-distribution business," CEO Doug Fulton said, while presenting a model home in Queen Creek. "Just when you think you've seen it all, been there done that, someone comes up with something new.”

As distributorSouthwest Gas has announced cheaper natural gas rates for transport uses, while domestic gas will keep a higher price, the new houses will now have two separate gas meters.

The pumps will be able to dispense at a slow rate of up to half-gallon (1.9 litres) of gas per hour. Company officials say users will probably refuel their vehicles during the night.

"You pull up, plug in, go inside, cook a meal on your gas range and come back in a few hours and you will be filled up," said Jose Esparza, vice president of energy solutions at Southwest Gas.

The CNG market is growing at an international level and in the U.S., with customers attracted to CNG-powered vehicles due to their fuel efficiency, lower costs and reduced pollution.
