UK petrol stations to have Amazon delivery lockers

Starting this week UK Amazon shoppers will be able to pick up the purchased items from their local gas stations.

As part of a strategy to reduce delivery costs, Amazon has partnered with fuel retailer Jet to install Amazon lockers in their gas stations. Jet has a network of over 350 filling stations across the UK.

The partnership will be implemented in a gradual manner, with the first pick up points being located at Jet stations in Doncaster, Cleveland, Tyne and Wear, Middlesex and Glasgow, reports The Times.

For Jet operators the new deal means a higher footfall due to clients picking up their deliveries, with potential increased fuel and convenience sales, as well as a monthly fee paid to them by Amazon dealers. 

Gas station owners will be able to apply for the Amazon lockers, with the online shopping company examining the convenience of each location in terms of delivery cost-efficiency.

Amazon already has a network of 300 delivery points across the country in convenience stores, shopping centers, airports and train stations.
