Technical flaw gifts free fuel for Toronto drivers

A Shell station in Toronto was filled with cheerful drivers after a technical malfunction caused pumps to dispense fuel free of charge.

Last update:

The station, located at Woodbine Avenue and Highway 7 in Toronto, Canada, was offering fuel at 10 cents per litre as part of a promotional campaign for the company´s new high-performance V-Power NiTRO+ fuel, reports CTV News.

Average prices for fuel in Toronto are over $1.10 a litre normally, so the offer itself was already a huge gain for drivers.

However, a technical flaw caused the advertised price fall to 1 cent a litre. Seeing that the gain from the fill ups was so small, the gas stations decided to give the fuel away for free.

The startling offer was only in place for around an hour, with police having to turn cars away after it finished.
