Gazprom buys more gas pumps in Germany
Gazprom Germania, a Berlin-based subsidiary of Russia’s state-owned natural gas company Gazprom, is expanding its network in Germany by buying fuelling stations in the federal state of Hesse.
The Reuters report further said that the company “will buy the filling stations from Hesse utility Entega, retroactively effective Aug. 1, having bought such assets from EnBW in Baden-Wuerttemberg earlier this year and 12 from Ferngas Nordbayern in Bavaria in 2013, among other deals.”
The acquisition will now supply Russian natural gas to 34 stations in Germany and to 10 more stations by the end of 2016.
Gazprom also aims to increase its presence, through its subsidiary VEMEX, in Slovakia and the Czech Republic.
"We are interested in exploring additional sales channels for Russian gas and aim to expand our presence in the gas transport sector," a Gazprom spokesman said.
In a separate report by Russia Today, Gazprom has also resumed gas supplies to Ukraine on October 12 after the latter gave $234 million out of $500 million as advance payment for 2 billion cubic meters of gas it requested for October.
