E.ON, MOL to build fast charging stations in Romania

E.ON Energie Romania is partnering with MOL Romania to roll out 40 fast charging stations in the country.

Set to be completed by December 2020, MOL and E.ON will install 21 and 19 chargers respectively in MOL service stations and key routes: Arad-Bucureşti-Constanţa, Sebeş-Târgu Mureş-Iaşi, and Suceava-Bucureşti-Giurgiu.

Acccording to a company release, the initiative is part of NEXT-E, a project which aims to develop a pan-European electric vehicle charging infrastructure for six countries such as Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Croatia, and Romania.

NEXT-E will build 222 standard fast charging stations (50 kW) and 30 ultra-fast charging stations (150-350 kW) thanks to the 18.84 million-euro financial support from the European Commission and the participation of a consortium of companies within the E.ON Group (Zapadoslovenská energetika Slovakia, E.ON Czech Republic, E.ON Hungary, E.ON Romania), MOL Group companies (represented by subsidiaries in all six participating countries) , Hrvatska elekropriveda Croatia PETROL (Slovenia and Croatia), Nissan, and BMW.
