Vietnam city seals fuel pumps to prevent fraud
Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Taxation is launching a campaign to prevent fraud in its petrol stations, reports Vietnamnet.
So far the Department has placed tamper-proof seals on fuel pumps in seven petrol stations, which according to Le Duy Minh, deputy director of department, will help determine whether “the amount of fuel sold matches the amount bought.”
The move, which brings no costs to fuel retailers and will be extended to more stations, will prevent unauthorized fuel supply and tax fraud, while boosting revenues, promoting fair competition, and protecting the consumers.
The tamper-proof seals, however, only work with mechanical and electrical meters but not with digital meters.
