BP to tap into EV market by installing chargers at gas stations

BP is in talks with electric vehicle manufacturers in search for partners that will help them develop EV charging infrastructure throughout part of its fuel station network.

Last update:

Chief Executive Bob Dudley has announced that oil giant BP is looking at the rollout of EV charging points to better navigate the decreasing importance of diesel and petrol, reports Reuters.

With the rapid growth that electric vehicles are expected to experience, major oil companies such as BP are already starting to plan for the future.

"We have discussions going on with a lot of the EV manufacturers to have a tie-up with our retail network for charging," Dudley said in an interview.

BP´s competitor Royal Dutch Shell has already started a pilot program to include EV charging points at service stations in the UK and the Netherlands.
