In many ways Sweden is leading the way when it comes to the use of renewable fuels. Their development of biodiesel through Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), which they acquire from forest residues, has been branded a success due to the popularity among users and the lack of handling problems.

At this year´s SPT Branschdagen, an event for the Swedish fuel retailing industry, PetrolPlaza TV interviewed renowned industry experts to find out more about how their innovative biofuels system works.

Ulf Svahn has been the Managing Director of the Swedish Petroleum & Biofuels Institute for 10 years. The industry organisation has the purpose of improving industry conditions as well as being a link between politicians, authorities and other groups of interest.

Sören Eriksson is a Coordinator of Product Development at Preem. Preem is Sweden’s largest fuel company and accounts for 80 percent of the Swedish refinery capacity and 30 percent of the Nordic refinery capacity. Preem also has a nationwide network of around 600 filling stations for private and commercial traffic.

Anders Norén is a Technocal Manager at BIL Sweden. The association represents manufacturers and importers of cars, trucks and buses. Its members represent 99% of all new registrations in Sweden. It deals with automobile taxes, environmental protection, distribution, trade policy, traffic policy and Swedish and international regulations.
