Spain: Eroski opens new convenience store format

An Avia station in the Vasque Country now includes a Rapid convenience store.

Supermarket chain Eroski has opened a new convenience store under the ‘Rapid’ brand at an Avia gas station.

Rapid convenience stores, Eroski’s new format for dense city areas or gas stations, were inaugurated in 2017 and have an average size of 150m2. The new store at the Avia site in Gernica (Vasque Country) has around 100m2 and offers over 1,500 products.

According to the company, Rapid was presented two years ago in Mallorca. Eroski plans to open 20 new stores in this format in 2019 and have a network of 200 convenience stores in the next 5 years.

Club Avia members will be able to benefit from the Club's advantages when making their purchase at Avia Amunaga with 2% in refuelling and 5% in purchases discounted from the next operation.

AVIA is one of the main Spanish oil operators with a network of 180 service stations.
