English Español Spain: Galp, Endesa unveil first EV charger

Endesa and Galp have opened the first electric vehicle fast charging station at the Portuguese oil company’s fuelling network in Spain.

The two companies have agreed to install five fast charge points in Galp’s network of 580 gas stations. The agreement is part of the CIRVE project, a Spanish consortium created to deploy a network of 40 fast charging points for EVs connecting the Iberian Peninsula with the European Union.

The first Galp station to have an EV charger is located in in the municipality of Alcala de Henares, Madrid.

All the points will have 50 kW technology with three different plugs to serve all models of electric vehicles on the market.

For Galp, this first "energy island" represents a new phase in the implementation of its electric mobility strategy, initiated in Portugal in 2010 and a new dimension of its mobility offer in Spain.

Galp is the market leader in Portugal, with 18 fast recharging points and was the first operator to offer an integrated mobility plan.
