English Español Estonia: EU bio-additive regulations push 95-grade fuel prices up

The move comes after EU regulations set that petrol and diesel suppliers had to provide from last May fuel with a 5% and 3.5% bio component respectively, informs ERR.

The hike in fuel prices may be due to the lower energy value in bio-added fuels and a more significant expense of the animal and vegetable fat-derived diesel additives.

Some older cars, however, may be incompatible with the newer bio-additive fuel and will still have to make use of 98 grade petrol, untouched by the latest EU regulations.

No label specifying the extra additive have apparently appeared at the sites so far, according to ERR.
