English Español H2 Mobility opens two more hydrogen sites in Germany

With the two additions, there are now 64 hydrogen fuelling stations in Germany - one of the leading markets in the world.

Last update:

H2 Mobility Deutschland and its shareholders Shell and Air Liquide have jointly opened two more hydrogen refuelling sites in Bayreuth and Berg bei Hof. The hydrogen supply network in Germany continues to grow.

There are now 64 H2 filling stations in Germany; by the end of 2019 the company plans to have 100.

Bavaria leads the way with filling stations in cities such as Munich, Nuremberg, Ingolstadt, Regensburg, and Geiselwind, and soon also in Erlangen and Würzburg. At 14, it currently has the most of any German federal state.

“Hydrogen technology is a promising technology. We assume that from the 2020s, this alternative drive system will play an increasingly important role in markets such as Germany, Britain, the Benelux countries, the USA, and Japan,” said Thomas Bystry, Project Manager Hydrogen Filling Stations, Shell.

Both new locations – the Shell service stations at Christian-Ritter-von-Langheinrich-Strasse 2 in Bayreuth and at Sieggrubenstrasse 5 in Berg near Hof – are situated directly on A9 motorway slip roads.

The facilities each have a capacity of around 200 kilograms of hydrogen – enough to refuel 40 to 50 vehicles a day.
