Fiji: Total invests $2mn to convert 7 service stations to solar
Total Fiji Limited has invested over $2 million to equip seven of its service stations with solar panels.
The investment is part of Total’s global commitment to reduce carbon emissions by equipping 5,000 gas stations with photovoltaic solar panels.
The solar installation at these seven stations is expected to reduce carbon emission by over 130 tonnes every year for the next 25 years, reports FBC News.
The oil company intends to install solar panels in a further 13 stations across Fiji.
Located in Suva, the seven stations with solar power have a total of 773 square metres of solar panel surface, producing 602 kW/year.
Total Fiji is involved in retail service stations, commercial and bulk fuels, marine activities and lubricants. It owns six storage facilities in Fiji.
