English Español Germany: EnBW announces plans to build 2,000 EV charging points

A mass rollout of electric vehicle chargers will take place over the next two years as EnBW continues to work with oil companies and OMCs.

Last update:

By the end of 2020, EnBW will operate over 2,000 high-speed charging points at up to 1,000 locations throughout Germany.

The aim is to provide customers with nationwide rapid charging offering an output of at least 50 kilowatts (kW). At the same time, EnBW's existing rapid charging infrastructure on German motorways will be upgraded to a charging capacity of 150 kW and more.

"What may sound obvious is a novelty on the German e-mobility market. There is often still a jungle of tariffs consisting of different price combinations in which charging fees or other hidden price components are used,” says electromobility expert Burgstahler.

Parallel to their own expansion ambitions, EnBW is also continuously expanding their partner network. The group not only cooperates with the petrol station and service area operators Shell, OMV Deutschland and Tank&Rast, but also with trading companies such as Euronics and Hagebau, and most recently with the fast food chain Burger King.
