English Español Gilbarco releases outdoor EMV-acceptance software for CITGO retailers

Major oil brand enables “chip card” capabilities at the fuel dispenser.

Last update:

Gilbarco Veeder-Root announced that after extensive testing CITGO Petroleum Corporation officially released EMV acceptance software for retailers at the forecourt.

Along with EMV, Version 11.04B brings Passport EDGE to the CITGO network and is now available to CITGO branded sites with Gilbarco Veeder-Root dispensers.

CITGO performed hundreds of thousands of indoor EMV transactions across the United States throughout the last two years.

With this new technology to install EMV chip-card readers at automated fuel pumps, retailers will be able to protect their customers, differentiate their brands, and also become EMV-compliant ahead of the fast-approaching 2020 deadline.

“Our customers’ payment security is one of our greatest concerns, and protecting our customers’ identity at the pump is something we take very seriously,” said CITGO Vice President Supply and Marketing Karl Schmidt.

CITGO transports and markets transportation fuels, lubricants, petrochemicals and other industrial products and supplies a network of approximately 4,900 locally owned and operated branded retail outlets
