Spain: Energy provider and petrol station association commit to electric mobility

Endesa will install charging points at 5,000 petrol stations over the next five charges in huge mobility plan.

Through its new business line Endesa X, Endesa and the Spanish Confederation of Service Station Businessmen (CEEES) have signed a framework collaboration agreement to work together on the development of recharging points for electric vehicles in the 5,000 attended service stations that make up the organisation's network.

The agreement contemplates the deployment of fast charging points on “energy islands” to provide energy to EV users. Employees at the sites will also receive training for the new service.

The announcement is a sign of the long commitment that Endesa and Spanish fuel retailing association have made to electric mobility.

In a first phase, Endesa X will establish a network of 2,000 charging points that will connect cities with more than 35,000 inhabitants, covering 15,000 kilometres of main roads and urban areas

“We know that the mobility paradigm is changing and we want to be direct protagonists of this transformation, establishing alliances with leading companies committed to our environment, such as Endesa. The staff of our service stations, attended and safe, will receive training to offer the best service to motorists and guarantee the mobility of companies and individuals,” said Jorge de Benito, president of CEEES.

The agreement is part of Endesa’s plan reach 8,500 public recharging points over the next 5 years.
