English Español Irish petrol stations lose €2.5mn due to drive offs

The Irish Petrol Retailers Association (IPRA) has supplied the Ministry of Transport with numbers of fuel theft demanding more action on the matter.

Last update:

Drive offs are leaving Irish petrol stations with 2.5 million euro losses a year. The Irish Petrol Retailers Association (IPRA) is requesting more measures towards tackling the issue.

Each petrol station in Ireland loses an average of €2.500 a year due to people driving off without paying, according to a report by the Sunday Business Post.

The IPRA believes the police of the Republic of Ireland should do more to deter customers from drive offs as people seem to believe they can get away with it.

Many forecourt operators are reluctant to discuss the matter publicly as they feel it may make the issue worst.
