English Español Socar opens the first gas station in Austria

The opening is part of the rebranding of 82 A1 sites that Socar acquired in late 2017.

SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan) opened the first petrol station in Austria in Graz under its own brand, reports Azer Tag

The next SOCAR station to open in Austria will also be put in operation in Graz. Rebranding of all 82 ‘A1’ company gas stations in Austria transferred to SOCAR will be implemented gradually over several years.

In late 2017, SOCAR Energy Holdings (SOCAR's Swiss subsidiary) announced its entry into the Austrian retail fuel market by taking over petrol station operator A1.

“SOCAR has become one of the leading energy companies in Switzerland since entering the market of this country in 2012. We want to use this experience in Austria,” said Edgar Bachmann, head of SOCAR Energy Holdings.

Currently, SOCAR is the only producer of oil products in Azerbaijan and also operates more than 370 filling stations in Switzerland, Georgia, Romania and Ukraine.
