UK: ESSO adds award-winning site to its fuel network

Gloucester Services station has been added to the Esso Card acceptance network.

Esso announced that Gloucester Services, on the M5 motorway, has been added to the Esso Card acceptance network in the United Kingdom. The Esso Card is now accepted at over 3,400 sites in the UK.

The Gloucester Services station have been described as a tourist attraction and a final destination in its own right. Sausage rolls and fast food have been replaced with a farmshop which boasts its own butchery and sells organic meat supplied from the local farms. Gloucester Services proudly states that ‘we don’t have franchises’; instead the farmshop, butchery, deli, fishmonger and patisserie offer homemade food which is all sourced locally.

Domed and partly sunk into the ground, the grass topped building has won an award from the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) for its design.

Gloucester Services opens 24 hours a day and offers free parking up to 3 hours, including for HGV and truckers. The site also features showers in the main building.
